CHED releases more than 12.7 million to DNSC

             More than 12.7 million worth of checks were received by Davao del Norte State College through its president, Dr. Jonathan A. Bayogan, who personally picked up the checks from the CHED-Central Office, Manila last 28 of February this year.

             Two of the three checks are for the payment of First Tranche for the implementation of two current projects of the College. The 7M of 12. 7M is for the implementation of the 10 million-worth project entitled “Enhancing the Ecological and Educational Tourism Capability of Davao Region through Academe-Community Partnership” under the Priority Growth Areas on Tourism Development which aims to upgrade the capability of DNSC and its immediate stakeholders towards its role in ensuring a sustainable and environment-friendly ecological and educational tourism in the region.  It also aims to capacitate the community and provide opportunities for poverty alleviation while it strengthens its role in biodiversity conservation.

           Further, the project “Establishment of Meso-Scale Meteorological Monitoring Infrastructure in Davao City” has Php 379, 120.00 for its first tranche of implementation. This research project is in consortium of DNSC with other selected state universities and colleges (SUCs) of the region namely University of the Philippines in Mindanao (UPMin), University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), and Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), with Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) taking the lead.

           Meanwhile, the Student Grants-in Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (SGP-PA) under the CHED Disbursement Acceleration Program for AY 2012-2013 to AY 2013-2014 had released more than 5.3 million worth of financial assistance.
